Activity description
Caumsett State Historic Park and Preserve has some of the best scenery and paths for bike riding in all of Long Island. The park features a 2.5 mile paved loop (no cars) for bike riders and walkers, including a few small hills. Along the loop we’ll see a horse stable, geese, and a mansion, while winding through forests and alongside meadows. From the mansion there’s an amazing view of the sound, with a walking path down to the shore.
We’ll start the bike ride from the main parking lot at 10am, and ride to the mansion. From there we’ll break for a hike down to the water and back. We’ll continue the bike ride of the 2.5 mile loop and allow for water breaks as needed.
Please bring a packed lunch for the trip and we’ll eat along the ride, or after. If parents or kids are comfortable riding with a backpack, then please bring one. Trip leaders can also help with transporting lunches with bikepacking gear.
Parents are encouraged to coordinate with ride-sharing, particularly those with bike racks or trucks.
